As a songwriter or writer we've all experienced that dreaded feeling of writers block. An awful time in a creative writers musical or writing journey, where nothing seems to captivate our creative spirits, nothing seems to get those creative juices flowing, perplexed! wondering if those juices have somewhat..... dried up? Well look no further here are five effective ways that are bound to get those creative juices flowing again. And also help you out when stuck in the writers block rut!

5 Effective Ways To beat writers block...

Tip 1) Go for a walk - One thing a lot of us seem to take for granted is Nature. As a writer, I would imagine creativity is something inbuilt and we literally eat, sleep and breathe. Therefore going for walk and taking in your surroundings, even the most minute things such as insects, buildings, butterflies and most popular public parks should ignite your creative spark once again.

Take a notebook or use notebook on your smartphone to note down all the things you've seen on your 'nature inspired, writers block walk' once home and in a comfortable setting have a look at your list, focus on what inspired you to put these things on your list and how it made you feel. Once your comfortable with your it all. Use the your emotions from the walk and objects on list as inspiration to write a short poem, song etc.

Tip 2) Keep a Creative journal or a diary - As a creative owning or creating a journal is Quite essential. Especially when taking into consideration our own creative process and what makes us tick! sometimes at rapid speed in the most awkward moments, at the most random times. :)

so owning some form of a visual reminder is always useful....

Cut out text from magazine or newspapers

Cut out things that inspire you, from magazine text to newspaper clippings.

quote poetry or try writing your own as well as writing daily affirmations. As you can probably gather you have a lot more creative freedom with your thoughts rather than a diary. Though just as good a diary is a little more personal, however whats to stop you creating an awesome masterpiece of a diary turning your your annual/daily thoughts into song or poetry?! Do you see how both tend to be beneficial? as each is a collection of our own thoughts and individual ideas. This one is an instant Writers Block Breaker! so to speak :)

Tip 3) Don't Try to be a perfectionist....Keep Drafting, go back and edit until you've got something down, that your happy with. Save editing until the end! Remember writing 'badly' as a creative/writer is better than writing nothing at all! :)

Tip 4) Invest in a book of quotations or proverbs, If you do not already own one. On consecutive days open your proverb or quotation book on a random page and use the quote or proverb, that's caught your attention as a base/idea or topic as guidance for a song, poem or novel. whatever your chosen field. Another useful tip is using writing prompts to jog ideas for your specific type of writing. You'll be amazed to find the amount of work you can produce using this simple effective exercise. Highly recommended! :)

keep your creative brain active

( Try Apps such as Pinterest also, which usually has a range of great writing prompts, proverbs and quotes www.pinterest.com )

Tip 5) Write daily and listen to instrumentals no matter how much gibberish you might think it is at the time! :) eventually as you continue writing you will then begin to see a pattern of your personal style been formed. seek inspiration from everywhere within your surroundings or reach. Literally just write, even if it is one or two words, even one or two lines.

Also you can try getting into a comfortable space with a playlist of instrumentals that inspire you, something to set the tone preferably though not essential, something to suit your tone. meditate with the instrumentals, in this exercise do not attempt to write anything until you feel that something that makes you gravitate towards your pen and pad/journal. This exercise can also work well in groups.

And has also been proven effective by many writers who've had to face the dreaded 'Writers Block' :)

To Summarise, at the best of times we can be our own worst enemy. As a writer, singer, songwriter or poet, wouldn't you agree? We often tend to get caught in a creative struggle in a our minds, so used to the habit of restricting ourselves from tapping into our creative selves, rather than finding a solution to our creative issue, we tend to to get caught up in a distressed mindset no more helping the writers block, but breathing life into it. As a writer, I find you do not have time for inconsistency if you are truly serious about your craft :) Hopefully these Five tips can help assist you in your creative journey and also help with new ways of how to defeat writers block.
